The 88 is our new home. This Condo is located in downtown San Jose. The name is taken from the height of the building, 88 metres. The 88 is the highest building between San Francisco and Los Angeles. It has a community level with an entertainment room, kitchen, pool, bbq’s and a billiards room. On the top level is an observation deck. The building has it’s very own Concierge.

Part rock concert (loud music during game play), part video game (80′s Atari-like game sounds again during game play), add some sport and then mix in some “roughing”. UFC on ice. Very entertaining.

A big Thayer’s Gull with Santa Cruz’s Boardwalk Amusement Park in the background. Santa Cruz is an hours drive from San Jose and is also famous for it’s surfing label, the waves, sea lions, pier and tasty seafood.

Dennis and Jenesse rock climbed Arrow Final on Table Mountain. The climb is directly below the upper cable way station. We hired Anthony Hall as our guide and it took us 4 hours over 5 pitches to reach the summit. Once top side, Dennis went down on one knee!

Jenesse and Dennis went to the 2010 FIFA World Cup in South Africa, travelling with the Fanatics. We chose to stay for the 16 days of the Group Stage in Cape Town, watching all 5 games at Green Point Stadium and then travelling to the Australian matches in Durban, Nelspruit and Rustenburg.
Despite Jenesse’s tummy bug, she braved the tour bus on Friday (27 June, 2008). We rested til midday until Jenesse was well enough and then rendezvoused with the tour at KLCC for lunch. The afternoon tour took us to the Batu Caves for a quick photo stop, but Shane and Adrian decided to run up [...]
Jenesse and I have now been in KL since Tuesday (25th June, 2008) and despite the crazy funky (re: smells) town we have taken it quite easy. We are not rushing around trying to fit it every touristy thing. Guess we are still sort of in island time mode. The first night in KL we [...]
It’s our last day at Conrad Maldives. I received a surprise at breakfast. Four staff came to our table, presented me with a birthday cake, card, champagne and sung happy birthday. Jenesse apparently setup the birthday cake surprise. Thanks Jenesse! The weather was a bit unstable this morning, but has fined up again. We spent [...]
Earlier today we took a walk around the island and toured around the Spa Villa accommodations. These overwater bungalows are huge. Along the way, we saw many Black Tip Reef Sharks and a huge sting ray frollicking in the shallows. Our last night on Conrad Maldives was celebrated with a Candle Light Beach Dinner. The [...]
We woke up to a perfect day for snorkelling: no wind, the tide was out and the sun was just rising. The House Reef is located on the east side of Rangali island, marked by an orange bouy. The best way out there is to follow a channel the leads straight to the reef. Otherwise, [...]
At 11am today Jenesse and I went to Ithaa the undersea restaurant for their “cocktail hour”. This involved a tour of their 9m acrylic tunnel that has a 270° panoramic view. On each side were reefs and their tropical fish. Today’s weather during the day made for perfect viewing of the undersea life while sipping [...]
We started today off with breakfast on Rangali island in the Vilu Restaurant. The selection was a smaller version of the Atoll Market and the hot breakfast was a lar carte. The table setting was a lot nicer with fancy pants coffee mugs and plates. Think tomorrow we will stick to the buffet style breakkie [...]
This morning we took a snorkeling hopping excursion to 3 open water reefs about 20 minutes away by speed boat. Unfortunately the day before, my Olympus 1030SW underwater camera decided to break on me. Typical, the day I really need to use it, Murphy’s Law is invoked. Not sure whats wrong with the camera, I [...]
Today Jenesse and I had no activities planned. We became beach bums for most of the day, swimming and sun bathing. The weather is improving: blue skies, the sun is shining and a soft wind blowing despite this being the monsoon seasoon. I guess we have been lucky, as we were told it rained for [...]
Jenesse woke up at 6am this morning, very excited with the anticipation of today’s event: an excursion to a deserted island, just the two of us. It wasn’t long before I woke up too, and then we headed to the Atoll Market for breakfast. By 8:30am we were taken by speed boat to a small [...]
Another early start, 5am and despite assurances from our rep that we would be woken up it we wisely chose to back this up with our own alarm. There was no wake up call but we were ready. Our rep arrived to pick us up but told us we had to wait for another couple [...]
We woke up a stupid o’clock (3am) to drive down in our Toyota Yaris hire car to Cooloongatta Airport to catch our Air Asia X flight to Kuala Lumpar. This went without a hitch and the flight was uneventful. Although, Jenesse’s chair had issues with the recliner. We arrived at the LCC terminal in KL [...]
It’s now only 20 days until Jenesse & I leave for the Maldives and Kuala Lumpar. On the 14th June, we are looking forward to staying 8 nights at Conrad Maldives. On the last day, which happen’s to be my birthday we fly back to KL. Then we will be staying 5 nights at the [...]
